Good Earth Natural Foods started as a small co-op between Betty Junek and Katherine Dykstra, back in 1978. Over the years, we have grown in leaps and bounds, from a small operation in a garage, to a 6,000+ square foot retail space on Main Street in Spearfish. Located just 8 miles East of the Wyoming border, just on the tip of the Black Hills National Forest, Spearfish boasts a population of about 10,500 people. From August - May, we also have an additional 5,000 individuals enrolled at our local university, Black Hills State University. Our small, but tight knit community is very involved in the outdoors, with our main industries being tourism and timber. Spearfish is well known for it's mountain bike tracks and races, along with it's excellent hiking trails located on the surrounding mountains and in Spearfish Canyon.

Good Earth strives to bring healthy, bio-dynamic, fair trade, organic, and/or sustainable goods to our community. In April 2015,  we expanded our retail space to include The Loft, a space dedicated to eco-apparel. In The Loft, we carry items for all ages, including brands: Gro Via, Toad&Co, Synergy, Maggie's Organics, Soul Flower, Fair Indigo, Blue Canoe, Earth Creations, and more. In just six short months, we have had an overwhelming response from the community, and a great interest during our peak tourist season.

Kathy passed away a few years ago, but her dream and memory live on through Good Earth Natural Foods. Her son, Clay Dykstra, took over store operations in April 2014 in order to keep the store within the family. Clay's vision for the store has brought us all to new levels within our operations, and we have found our growth to be a great learning experience as well as great success. We firmly believe in taking care of our customers and employees, and strive to provide great service along with taking care of our employees ~ who all care about preserving Kathy's vision, along with seeing Clay and the store succeed more than ever before.
